Fashion Gorgeois the ‘Coherent Written outline’:
In brief this site is dedicated to fully documenting my debut catwalk collection.
It will be a step by step video diary, fully detailing my progress as I Research, design, develop, and hand produce a professional collection of clothing. This should take 1 year and be completed in time for a catwalk show and charity auction in early 2011.
This Blog is not only a documentary but a basic/ intermediate resource for undergraduates who are looking into fashion as a career. Alongside this blog will be a series of in-depth hands-on-tutorials, showing you the basics of many different aspects of Fashion Design.
Gorgeois is the realization of 3 years of further learning and will showcase my best work to date; a gorgeous line of burlesque based luxury wear, featuring both couture and prêt a porter. All the items will be handmade by me in my studio located in Bermondsey London.
So why is this so special?
Well, it will be my first professional collection and the final event will be to showcase me as an emerging, young, designer which will hopefully kick start my career, here in London.
Also the depth and scope of this project is huge; I will Pattern Cut and hand make a range of 30 commercial OUTFITS and 10 stunning, conceptual, couture OUTFITS. If you imagine 2-3 garments per outfit, this equates to roughly 100 INDIVIDUAL ITEMS. Also, all tickets sales and auctioned garments will go towards a charity that will eventually be associated with the project…
Finally if all else fails… and it will be the last collection I ever design then it’s going to be the most incredibly ambitious and beautiful work I will ever produce!
